What It Does

Cage window operations

Cashiers count their drawer by denomination at the start and end of each shift and record money-in and money-out transactions against a controlled list of reasons. The system computes the authoritative shift balance server-side in exact cents: beginning balance, money in and out, vault activity, expected versus actual, and the resulting variance, with no room for spreadsheet error.

Vault management with dual control

Vault fills follow a request, approve, complete workflow, so no single person can move money through the vault unchecked. Bank transfers and adjustments are captured as part of the balance, not bolted on afterward.

Shift closeouts

At the end of a shift, a cashier submits their drawer for review. A manager approves or rejects it, and larger variances are automatically flagged for attention. The person who handled the money never signs off on their own shift.

Manager oversight

Managers can drill into any cashier's shift and see the complete record: the opening count, every transaction with its date and time, the closing count, and the balance, all in one place, read-only.

Reporting

Filterable shift-balance reports by date range and cashier, with variance trends and cash-flow visualizations, exportable to CSV and PDF, and a clean print layout for the records room.

Tamper-evident audit trail

Every action is written to an append-only audit log: who did what, when, and from where. Records are cryptographically hash-chained, so any attempt to alter or delete history after the fact is detectable. Auditors can verify the integrity of the entire chain on demand.

See It Running

These are captures of VaultLine CageOps running, not mockups. Every figure on screen was computed by the application from a full shift it was driven through: beginning count, six transactions, ending count.

The property is invented. Lantern Ridge Casino and gaming license CO-DEMO-0001 do not exist, and neither do the staff. A gaming license number is a regulated identifier, so no client property or license appears anywhere on this page.

ExecutiveThe cage position as of the last count, with thirty days of flow and variance behind it. Twenty-seven of thirty shifts balanced, two over and one short, and the tile says which. A number nobody had to assemble from a spreadsheet the night before.
The cageWhere a cashier spends the shift. Beginning, in, out, expected and actual sit across the top and the variance is computed as they work, so a drawer that has drifted is a problem at 6pm rather than a discovery at 2am.
Bank countThe cashier types quantities and nothing else. Read the line under the heading: totals are computed server-side in exact cents, which is the whole reason a count sheet stops being an arithmetic risk.
OversightA manager's month, every shift with its variance and status, and a drill-in to the full record behind any one of them. Note what this screen does not have: any way to record a transaction. The oversight role cannot touch the cage, and that is enforced in the software rather than in a policy binder.
Audit integrityEvery action append-only and hash-chained, with the chain verified on demand and each entry showing who, what, when and its hash. An auditor does not have to take the log's word for it, which is the difference between a record and a claim.
Built for Compliance

Segregation of duties, enforced by the software.

VaultLine CageOps is designed around segregation of duties, following practices expected by gaming regulators such as the Colorado Division of Gaming. Three distinct roles keep responsibilities separated, and these boundaries are enforced by the software, not by policy alone. A user without cage authority simply cannot perform cage transactions, no matter how they try to reach them.

CashierConducts cage window operations. The only role that touches the drawer.
Manager on DutyReviews closeouts, approves vault fills, and oversees cashier activity, but never conducts cage transactions.
AdministratorManages users, settings, and system integrity, with no cage authority at all.
The Paperwork

What a revenue audit actually asks to see.

The screens matter to the people using them. These two are what leaves the building. Both are generated from the authoritative shift record rather than typed, which is the point: the summary and the receipt cannot disagree with the system, because neither one is entered by hand.

Daily Cash SummaryOpening count by denomination, every transaction, closing count, and the balance summary that foots: fifty thousand opening, thirteen thousand three hundred in, five thousand two hundred fifty out, expected and actual both fifty-eight thousand fifty, variance zero. Two signature lines at the bottom, because a document nobody signed is not paperwork.
Transaction receiptEvery transaction prints one: number, gaming date, time, cashier, license, amount, reason, memo, and a signature line for each side of the window. It prints on the 80mm roll already sitting at the cage.
Security and Accuracy

Correct by design.

  • Exact-cent accounting. All money is handled as whole cents; no floating-point rounding errors, ever.
  • Server-side enforcement. Permissions are checked on the server; the interface only ever shows what a user is actually allowed to do.
  • Hardened access. Protected sessions, cross-site request protection, login rate-limiting, and automatic lockout after repeated failed attempts.
  • Accounts are disabled, never deleted, preserving a complete history for audit.
  • Tamper-evident records. The hash-chained audit log makes silent after-the-fact edits detectable.
Deployment

An on-premise appliance.

VaultLine CageOps installs as a self-contained appliance on a standard Linux server (Alma Linux) with a PostgreSQL database. The technology stack is deliberately simple and proven, chosen for stability and long service life on gaming-floor hardware.
